The ranking of the 72 largest grocery chains in the country has been completed.

America's grocery chains have been put to the test, and Walmart didn't even crack the top 10.

With shopping centers vying for customers in a market where popular grocery items are hitting record-high prices, some shoppers are shelling out over $3,000 on food weekly.

As Aldi gears up to take on other budget-friendly stores, a ranking of the nation's 72 largest grocery chains has been released.

Dunnhumby, a customer data science company, carried out a study to assess American sentiments regarding the enormous $1 trillion grocery industry. By surveying 11,000 consumers, they aimed to gather insights on which grocery chain was favored by the participants.

Against all odds, a franchise operating in just 10 states snagged the top spot, reports the Express US.

For the fourth consecutive time, H-E-B has been crowned America's favorite grocery store. The Texas-based chain wins customer hearts with its fresh offerings and standout private-label products.

H-E-B secured the top position.

Their website proudly claims that every location is unique, "customized to meet the specific needs of the customers in each community."

The survey revealed that H-E-B's attractiveness stems from its strong value proposition.

Studies show that consumers tend to prefer retailers that offer opportunities for saving money through competitive prices, special promotions, and loyalty programs. This loyalty from shoppers provides these retailers with a significant advantage for achieving lasting success in a competitive market.

Following H-E-B, Market Basket secured the second spot, Costco took third place, and WinCo Foods came in fourth. In contrast, Walmart, the largest grocery retailer in the United States, ranked at number 11.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Matt O'Grady, the President of the Americas for the company, disclosed that various challenges have impacted consumer attitudes.

He noted, "Retailers and consumers have navigated through Covid, supply chain challenges, agricultural shortages driven by climate effects, and an extended phase of elevated food inflation, all of which have transformed shopping habits and altered Americans' views on the grocery retail landscape."

O'Grady noted that many companies are currently focusing on implementing changes to improve the shopping experience, with the goal of making their stores more appealing to customers.

"He further emphasized that clients within the grocery retail industry recognize that achieving market success relies on helping shoppers save money and adopting cutting-edge pricing technologies to retain their customer base."
